“Asthma and you” is a responsive online survey website to help researchers at the Centre for Paediatrics at Barts and The London School of Medicine and Dentistry (Queen Mary University of London) investigate the impact of childhood asthma on school attendance and engagement.

The design challenge was to come up with a site which is visually attractive and unintimidating for the audience of 11-18-year-olds. It also had to be highly authoritative, befitting to the sensitive subject and to instil user confidence for the young people, their teachers and parents.

Part of the development was to come up with a content management system that allows researchers to edit and develop new questions and sections. The CMS allows for various types of questions including conditional questions. The researchers have access to the collected data which they can export into Excel files.
