The Design School

Information

Virtual learning environment (VLE) and public website for the Design School at Kingston University.

The VLE part of the website facilitates all internal communication, document sharing, projects, calendars, tutorials and workshop sign-ups for all students and staff in the school.

Upon registration, staff and students are automatically assigned to courses and groups relevant to them. The system is integrated with Kingston University’s authentication system to make it appear seamless with other University systems.

After piloting this site for the Design School it was rolled out to the School of Fine Art as well.

Within 5 years both sites had over 5000 registered users and were used on a daily basis as the main online communication platform between staff and students.
